Xiangqi (Chinese Chess) Opening Tabia and their Principles: Palcorner Cannon Opening

Yan Wenqing and Zhang Qing Trilogy of Books on Xiangqi (Chinese Chess) Opening

The Palcorner Cannon opening started gaining popularity in the early 1980s and has kept evolutionizing. Its offensive and defensive variations have become a system on its own.
For the first move, the Cannon is traversed to the palace corner. It is less direct and very agile opening system where Red tries to sound Black out and thus counter more precisely and accurately. Based on the situation, Red can continue with the Sandwiched Horse Defense, Single Horse Defense 54 Cannons, et cetera as possible formations to continue.
The following four boards will examine the most popular counters to this opening.

The Webmaster would like to thank Master Yan Wenqing and Grandmaster Zhang Qiang for allowing the author to translate their work into English and share with the English speaking World.
The Webmaster has also made short videos which are available on Youtube .
